Cinna was a hidden but driving factor in Katniss' life. This represents yet another thing that the Capitol has taken away from her - does she really have anything left?
In losing Cinna, Katniss was left with nothing but Peeta, and herself. The capitol has already taken away everything else, such as her family, Gale and the comfort of her house. Before the first Hunger Games, Katniss was having a hard time maintaining her families comfort by bringing home food, wood to burn and leaves and other natural elements for her mothers nursing job at home. Katniss was always busy and struggling for food for her family, but with her family unit and Gale as her friend, she seemed content and was able to get by. At this point, when her mother and sister have unlimited amounts of food and a safe, large house, she seems to be the least content than she ever was. Without the comfort of knowing her family is safe from peacekeepers, the chance of Gale being tortured back in District 12, and the only person she truly trusted from the capitol, Cinna, dead, she doesn't have much left to hold on to, but her friendship with Peeta.
