Since Katniss' return from the Hunger Games, Gale has been assigned to work in the mines every day of the day of the week, except for Sunday which is their hunting time alone together. Before the Games, Katniss and Gale would go hunting everyday, to catch game and then trade it. But in Catching Fire, it's different because of what Gale would see between Katniss and Peeta on television, and because of the immense time apart they have together. They are still friends, but not as close as Katniss wishes.
